The heart chakra is in the center of the field with three chakras below and three above. This location is deeply symbolic, for the most important guiding energy on the spiritual path is love.
It is from the love of heaven that our soul descends to begin its worldly journey and to love it must return. Verily, it is our most important spiritual task here on Earth to let love be our guide in all we do.
Within the chakras are infinite possibilities of human awareness. But like the hub of a wheel, at their center is the heart. This is because it is love that binds them together – for there is no walk of consciousness that is not enhanced by love.
However, like all the other chakras, the heart has its higher and lower qualities. The lower of these involve our personal desires. They are marked by passion and the belief that we cannot live without the object of our love. This creates suffering when our love is sundered. For many, that pain is so great that they close their hearts forever.
But there is also a higher manifestation of the heart. It appears when we realize that all the people and things that we care about so deeply are but different expressions of the Divine’s love. Then there is no limit to our Divine Romance, for it can never be lost. That higher love sees all people as different faces of the Divine and seeks their highest good.[1]
The ecstatic opening of the heart is the most sublime feeling we can ever know. When one is truly in love, one cares about nothing but the beloved. And when one’s beloved is the Divine, one experiences bliss without end.
Messages of the Heart Chakra:
I am the very fabric of the Universe, for It was created from love Divine.
Love is the guiding light of the spiritual path.
The finest element, from which all creation is made, is love.
The greatest ecstasy we will ever know is the love of the Divine. But to fully surrender to that, we must release all the lesser desires that weigh down our hearts.
All the people and things we are attached to and love so much are but expressions of the Divine.
[1] That is not to say that it sees people as perfect, for we are all evolving beings on the path of consciousness. Nor does it negate the battle between darkness and light that we all struggle with.
