Getting clear about what we want
In this step of the session, clients are invited to ask for what they want to receive. Only intentions that are aligned with the highest good for themselves and all beings can be supported. If this is the case, and the Guides and Higher Spiritual Beings agree, then this will determine the direction of the session.
If the client’s request is unclear, or does not get to the heart of the matter that they seek to resolve, the Guides will seek to clarify it by asking questions. This process, in itself, can be very illuminating.
A typical example is as follows:
Client – “I am tired of being depressed. I don’t want to feel that way anymore.”
The Guides – “We can only respond to requests that tell us what you want – not what you don’t want. Please tell Us what you want.
Client – “I want to be happy.”
The Guides – “What is it that makes you feel the most joy?”
Client – “It is to feel loved.”
The Guides – “What is it that is keeping love away?”
Client – “I feel guilty, like I don’t deserve it.”
The Guides – “We are hearing that you feel that you don’t deserve to be loved. What happened to make you believe that?”
Client – “I wasn’t loved as a child. I have never been able to find love in my life.”
The Guides – “We are understanding that you want to heal this wound about love so that you can have love in your life. Is that what you wish to receive?”
Client – “Yes…exactly. I wish to release all wounds about love so I can have love in my life and be happy.”
The Guides – “Now that you have told us what you truly want, we can help you.”
Benefits
When the client becomes clear about exactly what he/she wants and tells the Guides, many positive things happen. Firstly, she has moved from a passive state to a proactive one. She has gone from “I don’t want to be depressed,” to “I want to feel loved.” Furthermore, she has identified the core wound that must be healed so she can realize her healing intention.
Additionally, by asking for what she wants, instead of simply stating what she doesn’t, she has enabled the Universe to help her. The Universe doesn’t hear the negative in a request. So, if we say “I don’t want to be depressed,” It hears “I want to be depressed,” and all we receive is more depression. This is why it is important to always affirm what we want as a clear positive statement.
Setting the wheels of manifestation in motion
The power of manifestation is directed by our thoughts. The thoughts that we experience the most frequently, and give the most emotional energy to will determine our lives. This is why so many people remain stuck in negative emotional patterns. They are focusing their attention on what is holding them back and what they don’t want to receive, instead of using the energizing the power of their thoughts to create what they want.
But besides framing what we want in a clear positive way, there is a second condition that must be met before the wheels of manifestation can be set in motion; for sometimes we have unconscious wounds that are preventing us from bringing our dreams into fruition. In this case, we must bring those wounds to light and heal them.
Becoming aware of the wounds that are preventing us from receiving our heart’s desires
Identifying self-sabotaging wounds is a crucial part of the process of manifestation. Many of us spend tremendous effort in manifesting our dreams, and yet make little progress. This is often because these suppressed wounds are making their actualization impossible. Thus, one of the goals of the sessions is to bring such repressed trauma to conscious awareness so that it can be fully witnessed and released.
The client identified her core wound, which is that she believes that she doesn’t deserve love. At the root of that belief are traumatic childhood memories in which her needs to be nurtured were denied. Those memories will need to be healed. This is accomplished by witnessing them and fully feeling the emotions that they bring up.
Such memories can be very difficult to experience. She may need support to enable her in this process. Although the support of a therapist can be extremely helpful, she cannot rely solely upon it for her healing – for to foster such a dependency would interfere with her journey towards individuation and completeness within the self. Ultimately, one’s healing must come from within.
We contact this strength by learning to access powerful inner resources. They consist of our Guides, other Higher Spiritual Beings and the loving presence of our soul. These are available to every individual. In order to make these realities a presence in our life, we must learn to contact them daily through meditation, prayer or other spiritual practices. Then, we can call upon Them for support when it is needed. We can reach out to the love of the Divine to heal our deepest and innermost wounds.
The power of requesting help from the Divine
Consciously turning towards the Divine is a major turning point in our spiritual evolution. As has been said before, the Universe and the Higher Beings, can only assist us if we ask.1 By making this request, we are aligning ourselves with the power of the Divine.
Our Guides, and other Holy Beings, will only support the highest good. Ultimately that good is about spiritual growth – for that is our destiny as souls. The Universe Itself was created to assist each of us to fulfill that purpose. For this reason, the goal of the sessions is always about psycho-spiritual growth – although sometimes physical healing is experienced as a very welcome by-product.
- As has been previously mentioned, this is because They, unlike the beings of the darkness, honor the universal law of free will. ↩︎
